U F. L. Věka, one of our two dinner spots when we were in town. It had been the location of F. L. Věk's father's shop.
F. L. Věk's home, now a museum
F. L. Věk was born in Dobruška in a merchant family. His native cottage is preserved in Dobruška, where there is an exposition about his life, including an exposition of a merchant shop. He has his statue in the town square. Věk was a significant writer and the first "Czech revival" man of letters, who was interested in satiric writings.
A serial television story in 1971 was based on the historical novel on his life written by Alois Jirásek. It was directed by František Filip and Radoslav Brzobohaty starred in the main role. Some of us watched the first 6 hours of the series on 3 separate evenings during the program.
The Dobruška Holocaust Memorial
Rampušák, the functioning old Czech brewery and malt house in Dobruška.
The Catholic church
The city swimming pool
Some favorite gardens we walked by on our way to lunch:
A couple goodies from a local "cukrárna" (sweet shop)
With Ludwig at a late night dorm party.
"In room" laundry facilities.
